In gluren bij de buren kijken we wat er speelt bij onze zusterverenigingen elders in de wereld. Deze keer bij de ABTT (Association of British Theatre Technicians).
- Op vrijdag de 13e juli heeft ANSI Board of Standards Review de standaard Prevent Falls from Stages goedgekeurd. Het gaat om de herziene versie van ANSI E1.46, Standard for the Prevention of Falls from Theatrical Stages and Raised Performance Platforms. De standaard kan gratis hier gedownload worden, dankzij sponsoring van ProSight Specialty Insurance of voor $ 40 aangeschaft worden bij ANSI en IHS.
- ESTA (Entertainment Services and Technology Association) heeft drie nieuwe standaarden gepubliceerd, reageren kan tot 25 september. Het betreft de standaarden: ANSI E1.5, Theatrical Fog Made with Aqueous Solutions of Di- and Trihydric Alcohols, ANSI E1.29, Product Safety Standard for Theatrical Fog Generators that Create Aerosols of Water, Aqueous Solutions of Glycol or Glycerin, or Aerosols of Highly Refined Alkane Mineral Oil en BSR E1.62, Minimum specifications for mass-produced portable platforms, ramps, stairs, and choral risers for live performance events. - Inspiring the Future of Theatre is een Britse campagne om jongeren te wijzen op de diverse carrieremogelijkheden in theater en om de banden tussen scholen en lokale theaters te versterken. Professionals uit de industrie kunnen zich opgeven als ambassadeur. Al 600 theaterprofessionals uit diverse hoeken hebben zich opgegeven. De campange is gestart op 11 juli. Tevens manifesteert de campagne zich op social media met de hashtag #inspiringFutureTheatre.
- Society of London Theatre (SOLT) en UK Theatre hebben een telefoonlijn in het leven geroepen waar theaterprofessionals 24 uur per dag gratis vragen kunnen stellen over gezondheid en welzijn: Theatre Helpline.
