Stage|Set|Scenery focuses on stage technology as its key area of expertise
No other show presents such a wide range of exhibitors representing stage and event technology – An even broader interdisciplinary approach – International DTHG Symposium on Refurbishment of Cultural Buildings
Berlin, 29 May 2019 – What are the challenges involved in repairing stage equipment during the summer break? How can theatres switch to renewable energy and what are the benefits of mobile battery-powered stage technology? What technical solutions are best for temporary theatres and multi-purpose event venues? This year Stage|Set|Scenery, which is taking place from 18 to 20 June 2019 in Berlin, will once again be concentrating on the practical issues where stage technology, stage equipment, planning and architecture are concerned, with a focus on an interdisciplinary dialogue between the skilled trades. Wesko Rohde, chairman of the board and managing director of Deutsche Theatertechnische Gesellschaft (DTHG): ”Stage|Set|Scenery has grown into a unique platform for those involved in the theatre and events. As well as giving practicians and creatives an opportunity to exchange views on their specialist subjects Stage|Set|Scenery is also the place for an interdisciplinary dialogue and proactive discussion on the latest industry trends. The construction and refurbishment of theatres and cultural buildings is a point in case. That can only succeed as a result of optimum collaboration among experts.“
Focus on stage technology in Hall 21
Patricia Pohle, the project manager of Stage|Set|Scenery: ”With DTHG in support, theatre technology has always been our key area of expertise. This year we are again looking forward to presenting a range of stage and event technology exhibitors unlike any other show worldwide.“ Exhibitors representing stage and event technology, architecture and stage planning will be displaying their latest products and services in Hall 21. Among those taking part are key industry players such as Gerriets, Bosch Rexroth, Waagner-Biro Austria Stage System, SBS Bühnentechnik, Mayr Antriebstechnik, HOAC Schweißtechnik, Visual Act Scandinavia, TAIT, ETC and cast C. ADOLPH & RST DISTRIBUTION GmbH.
Wide-ranging supporting programme ranging from innovative battery charging points, industry standards to 2D rigging systems
A comprehensive programme of supporting events and a wide range of interactive formats including round tables, workshops and panel discussions on stage and event technology topics will round off the show.
For example the RoundTable 21 will be presenting technical innovations from leading stage and event technology companies on all three days of the show. On Tuesday, 18 June at 4 p.m. Dominik Kübler of Conductix-Wampfler will give an introductory lecture on the latest electrification and data communication technology in turntable applications. On Wednesday, 19 June, taking the mobile battery-powered stage technology of HOAC® as an example, Dr. Gabriele Högg will highlight the use of renewable energy with the help of innovative battery charging points. On Thursday, 20 June at 1 p.m., Roland Krüger of 1st Selection will present active oxygen, a non-chemical cleaning product for dance floors which is new in show business.
This is the first time that Interessengemeinschaft Veranstaltungswirtschaft (IGVW) is taking part in Stage|Set|Scenery, including in the supporting programme. As well as holding a fire material test on the Safety in Action stage, the IGVW will be discussing its topics at the RoundTable 22 on Wednesday 19 June, where the focus will be on courses offering qualifications, industry standards and establishing international standards.
Taking as its slogan ‘Up in the air’, this year the focus of the Safety in Action stage at Stage|Set|Scenery is on safety during productions. This is also the first time that stage equipment will be involved. Thus, SBS Bühnentechnik will be highlighting the basic safety requirements of machine installations using a 2D rigging system.
Guide to construction, maintenance and refurbishment of cultural buildings
On 17 June, the eve of the show, at the Palais am Funkturm on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds, the associations DTHG and OISTAT will be holding an international symposium under the heading ’Theater, theatre, teatro – a guide to cultural venues in the urban environment’. The guide due to be presented will be of assistance in the construction, maintenance and refurbishment of theatres and cultural buildings. The symposium will round off a series of events that are part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage on 'Sharing Heritage’. The aim of this project, which is sponsored by the Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, is to preserve the unique world cultural heritage of the theatre landscape while also accommodating possibilities for creative development with functional requirements and demands such as the protection of listed buildings.
